CERTIFIED in INTEGRATED RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (CIRM)

The CIRM program will be discontinued after June 2008.

Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) education integrates your understanding of organizational resources such as information technology, materials, human resources, production and supporting equipment, facilities, and capital to meet the goals of your organization. In other words, you will gain an understanding of all the functions within your company, giving you a competitive edge!

The success of any business in the 21st century will increasingly depend on its ability to adapt to rapidly changing conditions—taking swift action to maximize the opportunities presented. CIRM is a comprehensive program designed to develop managerial and leadership skills. With CIRM education, you will develop your fullest potential and solve a wide range of business problems across the enterprise—spurring future innovation and discovery for you and your organization. The five modules are:

Enterprise Concepts and Fundamentals
Designing Products and Processes
Delivering Products and Services
Identifying and Creating Demand
Integrated Enterprise Management

Enterprise Concepts and Fundamentals

Enterprise Concepts and Fundamentals, the first module in the CIRM curriculum, introduces the strategic fundamentals of the value-driven enterprise, the management concepts of organizational design and structure, and the basic business processes that will be covered in the CIRM curriculum. Topics include:

         Strategic Fundamentals
         Management Concepts
         Business Processes
         Support Functions

Designing Products and Processes

This module examines the systems, approaches, and strategies used by an enterprise to convert a need or innovation into a product, process, or service that meets the expectations of both the enterprise and the customer. The Designing Products and Processes module examines the activities in the design process, which include organizing and defining the design team, determining the resources needed, identifying the work to be done and the anticipated output from the work, doing the actual work, and measuring the results. Topics include:

         Comprehension and Translation of Requirements
Work Structure (Planning and Implementing a Design Project)
Performance Assessment of the Design Process
         Continuous Improvement and Innovations

Delivering Products and Services

The Delivering Products and Services module expands on the concept of the value-driven enterprise, which was introduced in the Enterprise Concepts and Fundamentals module. Learn how to integrate an enterprise’s systems, approaches, and strategies to make the transition from concept to product and from customer expectation to product delivery. Understand the integrated planning and control of supply chain resources and business processes — including producers, distributors, and customers — that are required to deliver products and services to customers. Topics include:

         Identification of the Delivery Strategy
         Execution and Assessment
         Continuous Improvement and Innovation

Identifying and Creating Demand

Identifying and Creating Demand presents the strategies and tactics that identify, define, and quantify customer wants and needs.  It also demonstrates how to translate requirements into value-added products and services.  Topics include:

Marketing input to the business plan
         Sales
         Customer ordering and service
         Performance measurement

Integrated Enterprise Management

Follow the relationships and interactions of functional groups working toward a common goal.  This final module acts as a capstone of the whole CIRM educational program. Uniting all the areas covered in the other four modules, Integrated Enterprise Management applies strategic thinking to enterprise-wide issues, such as the integration of individuals within teams, functions, and the enterprise, and the evolution of an enterprise within its environment and over time. Topics include:

Personal Skills and Teamwork Necessary for the Individual to Succeed
          Making Change Happen
Functions and Their Integration Within the Enterprise
          Enterprise in the Environment
          Enterprise Through Time
